Cats Slip in week 5 and 6
Well reality struck and the Cats were beaten by a super tough Sunset team by 18-0 and a very down and dirty team that we battled well against....beaverton...Cats let that one slide by a score of 8-6. We hope for a better week ahead! The kids are playing well but some guys did not get there rest last Friday Night! We better be ready to go at this point! 2 weeks left in the year and we have a major focus on FUN to wrap up the year!

31-12 Westview Cats Win Again....

Well we are now 4-0 and that is a direct result of every single player doing their best to improve, play hard, and play as a team. We want to recognize the outstanding play of Jake Vorderstrasse with several sacks and tackles this Game. Congrats to Dree Hayden for a great catch and a great touchdown. All the boys played well once again and that is reflected in the final outcome. WE now move to three weeks of very tough teams and expect a battle every week. Here are the pics from this past weekend. Again great stuff here!

Awesome Pics and a Tip for All Cat Fans!

Hello Everybody!
I must forward this to you guys. This album of photos along with the work that Heidi did which I posted to the website (http://www.coachdirk.com/) is some of the best I have ever seen. In these photos you see effort, and Joy, and Fun. Look through them and take what you want by right clicking and saving or you can order them right online at the website.
This team is all of us. Maybe my coaches and I do not know all of you that well but we feel your love and support. Keep it coming. For those that keep playing...and I hope they all do....this will become a bigger and bigger family and really something special as these boys grow up. This group of 2-4 graders is a special group. There is a potential State Champion level team in the combined talents of these boys on all 3 teams. That is a great thing to become part of as parents and even better for the kids!
Thanks again and take a good look!
Thanks to Heidi and to Jace Siderius Uncle for this work!
Can we look forward to more??
Have a great night and GO CATS!

Here are the photo's I took at last weeks game against South Ridge. I have never used Picasa before, so let me know what you think. It was free and it allowed people to download photos for free if they wanted, so I thought I'd give it a try. Enjoy!Ryan

Cats Move to 3-0 in Blow out at our Home Field!

Click Picture to see More!!
The weather was great and the air was filled with excitement as the Westview 2-4 Reds lined up for Kick off in their Home opener. This week it was perennial rival Sothridge. Many games have been played between these two schools and Coach dirk remembered years past. Some years Southridge had gone unbeaten and had put the smack down on his teams.
"We stand and fight on every down" said Coach. Anxious eyes looked up from the team huddle.
"you take it to them or believe me they will take it to you!" he added.
Well the opening kick off came and the Cats delivered from the get go. The Cats stingy defense frustrated the Skyhawks who's Players and Coaches did not know what hit them. When the Cats took the Ball it only took one play for 65 yards and once again JT (Jace) Tanuvasa Broke right shedding tackles on his way to a score.
The Cats were fired up and the route was on. Scores by Conner Laverty, Jace Siderius, Asa Kleiber, and Casey Kelinsmith would be added in a game that became increasingly lopsided.
Once again the Cats O'Line blew huge holes. That Line includes Dree Hayden at TE, Kalen Valdriz (G), Jake Vorderstrasse (T), 2nd Grader Kole Knudsen (G), Tyler Christianson (T), and Dan Cauvel and Corbin Davis at Center. This line is backed up by Zach Sly, Nick Buda, Beni Thomas, and Derek Schwartz.
The D is lead by JT Tanuvasa, Tyler Fox, Joey Carver, Lewis Jang and a Host of other Cats. This weeks game saw a sack for 10 yards Loss by big and Powerful Cole Qualls.
The Game was at 33-0 before the 3rd quarter was over. the second units came in and mad mince meat of the Skyhawks. It was a great game. Physically both teams were equally matched. The confidence and football savvy of these young Cats showed itself this week and the game ended up at 33-6 conclusion.
The boys are becoming one team. they play with purpose. They play together. They complete their assignments and are getting the offense and defense down pat. This is a fun thing to see happen. The team set some goals and met them all. While the top priority Goals are not to win....the win becomes and extension of reaching those Goals.
The team was complimented for such a complete Game and moves to 3-0; achieving a goal of having Zero turn overs. Great job Boys and lets go hard again this week!

Cat Win First 2 games to go 2-0
In Week One the Cats went to Jefferson HS and Beat a Powerful bunch in SEI 2-4. The boys came to play and showed great defense and speed. JT Tanuvasa, Jace Siderius, and Conner Lacerty all led the offense. the defense showed great discipline by Corbin Davis, Kalen Valdriz, Dree Hayden, Lewis Jang, Asa Kleiber and a host of tought Linemen. Jadon Dannehl added a great break up at Corner as well as Casey Kleinsmith who smothered the receivers from the other team. This was a Great Win guys and a good team effort.
Now for Week Two:
It was Parade Time in Downtown beaverton Saturday morning and Marching Bands surrounded Beaverton HS Making some big noise. But in the midst of the crowds, Show cars, and Tubas a young group of athletes from Westview HS 2-4 Grade Red Team were making there way onto the field. It was game time and Coach Dirk Knudsen's Cats came fired out early.
The Cats defense led by Kalen Valdirz and Dree Hayden were stingy and they held the Beaverton Beavers 2-4 Grade white team to very few yards in the early going. After the Cats got the ball it did not take long as speedy Jace Tanuvasu broke off tackle on the first play to break for a 67 yard touchdown to take Cats up by 6-0. Beaverton answered back but had to fight for 70 yards to scor on a 6 minute drive. Cole Qualls, Conner Laverty, and Jake Vorderstrasse laid some huge hits on the Beavers along the way.
Late in the first Half Lewis Jang Handed the ball off to Jace Siderius who broke out side and burned the Beavers witha 50 yard run for a touchdown. The 2 point kick was made good with agreat kick by talented kicker Corbin Davis. The lead grew to 14-6. The Cats drove again and behind great blocking by 2nd grader Kole Knudsen and 4th grader Tyler Christiansen began to take control. A fumble and an interception had the game in the balance. The Beavers charged backed only to be stopped by the Cats deep in their own territory.
Than Dan Cauvel broke a play through the middle and evaded 6 tackles for a 47 yard burst only to have the ball come out as he crossed the goal. But two plays later Cauvel was crucial in defending the pass play which was picked by Corbin Davis and returned 40 yards for a touchdown. The Cats went on to win 20-6 to go to 2-0 on the year. Players of the Game were JT Tanuvasa, Dree Hayden, and Corbin Davis. Westview 2-4 Red is sponsored by Tanasbourne 76 Station and Car Wash!

Jamboree Results

Well it was a really fun day this past Saturday and an excellent learning experience. These Sunset teams came to play and I was very impressed with their size and stingy defense. Our first go on Offense was a little rough but we did gain some yards. In this series Coach jang had to run a series of plays we had laid out designed to get everybody in the game. We had a lot of switching going on and lots of tough snaps. Jitters for sure. Our defense did OK but got beat on a few crucial assignments. So that was the tough part and we did loose 2-0 on the TD count.
But...we bounced back and opened up the play book and I thought really looked very good on both sides of the ball. We beat the second Sunset Squad 2 touchdowns to none. We were all proud of our boys and saw some outstanding play out there. Lewis Jang, Conner Laverty, JT (Jace) Tanuvasa, Jace Siderius, and Kalen Vadriz were just a few of the standouts today. We have a lot of work to do and will be getting back after it on Monday at 5:30 Pm at Five Oaks. Good job everybody and Go Cats!

Saturday August 25th Jamboree Info
Hey Everybody! Sat Am we need to be at Five Oaks by 8:15 AM. I am handing out Jerseys tonight! This and their game pants should be worn. If for some reason we are having problems with Game Pants wear your practice pants! Bring Water and a Snack as I said for you Player!
We will need a chain gang so 2-3 Dads, Moms, or Older brothers need to be available to help!
This is a learning experience. There will be penalities and all of that and we will keep score but we will not kick off or punt.
If you saw the srimmage last night you saw how far we have come...and how far we have to go!
This should be a lot of fun. Below are some guidelines from the League. Pay attention to the "No Dog" rule as this has been somethign in years past that many people have brought Dogs to!
Best wishes and see you tonight!

Great First Practice Cats!!
Man how the time flies but these Cats came to play! Our first practice was a solid work out where we covered a little of everything. We even got some good tackling practice in which was great fun! We had some good hits but we have a bunch of young players that will learn a whole lot in the coming days! If you missed what happens next be at the field next week...all week from 5:30 to 7:30 PM for more practices as we start the processes of getting ready to play this year. There will also be a parent meeting next week as well! I will be in touch about that.
Thanks;
Coach Dirk

Welcome to the New Year!!
Welcome to our Football Family Cats!!
I and my Coaches want to reach out and extend a warm welcome to all of our new players and their families. We are so very excited to be Coaching the boys this year. As of right now we are preparing to go to work on teaching the basics of football. We will be putting a strong emphasis on Proper Tackling and will never stop teaching this aspect of the game!! Beyond that we will keep things pretty basic but will begin to formulate plays and Offensive and Defensive schemes that we can use a team to compete and succeed. We have no idea who will be playing where so please do not ask. This is a competitive league playing time will be awarded based upon several factors. We will be doing our very best to make sure that your Son develops as a player and as a person this year. Again Welcome and look for the schedule to be posted here very soon and along the right hand side of the site!
Thanks again for joinging us! This will be an absolutely GREAT year!!
Regards;
Coach Dirk
